WARNING: The National Geographic Lifetime Travel Series that you are about to read about has been known to ignite travel lust! Reading said books has been rumored to cause large increases in time spent daydreaming, insatiable urges to travel and a tendency towards smiling.
I’ve been trying to force myself to buy kindle books instead of “real” books, I really have, but sometimes an electronic version doesn’t do a book justice. (See the The Fire Starter Sessions for a great example of this). National Geographic’s Lifetime Series falls into that group – a series of travel books that are just too pretty to view on a screen & just too inspiring to not have sitting in your bookshelf filling your home with good travel vibes.
These are the types of books that you grab when you are in the mood for daydreaming – and daydreaming galore is what you will do if you get them. Let’s just say they are the all-stars of travel inspiration books.
These books make a great starting point for coming up with vacation ideas or for creating a bucket list. Have you ever thought about mountain biking in Transylvania, driving into the Arctic circle, visiting Lisbon’s largest food market or eating longevity noodles in China? Those are just a few of the amazing trip ideas you’ll read about. I own all except one of them and I can’t tell you how many times I have opened them only to be surprised at the unique locations or trip ideas that I have found.
National Geographic’s Lifetime Travel Book Series
We all know that travel + open road = great things. This book is full of great vacation ideas for people who love the adventure of a great road trip.
From ghost towns to island getaways Secret Journeys can help even the most intrepid traveler find new and exciting places to visit.
Capturing the spirit of travel, Journeys of a Lifetime is like the bible of travel inspiration. This is probably the best book to start with if you want travel inspiration, but don’t know where to start looking.
Food Journeys of a Lifetime
I love food. I love travel. This book was made for me and is the one I have spent the most time salivating over. If exploring the world through food is your thing then run don’t walk to get your copy and start dreaming of eating dumplings in China, slurping on milk vodka in Mongolia and savoring appelflappen in the Netherlands.
Awe-Inspiring, powerful and magical – those are the three words that come to mind when describing the places in this book. Sacred Places of a lifetime is like a primer on spiritual travel. If you have dreams of visiting places like Machu Picchu, Mont St. Michel or Jerusalem this book will be a good fit for you. I personally love the information on pilgrimage routes.
If you are the type of person who loves unique locations, foods and experiences and are looking for new trip ideas, check out this series and let me know if you have any new trips planned!
